ESGR Committee to Thank Service Members at U.S.V.I. Airports

In celebration of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Week, which is Aug. 21-27, the Virgin Islands ESGR Committee has scheduled two ceremonies at the Henry E. Rohlsen Airport and Cyril E. King Airport to recognize, celebrate and thank all service members and veterans who live in or enter the territory.
ESGR will unveil welcome signs for the National Guard and Reserves at the airports. At 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 24, there will be a ceremony held at Cruise Lounge, Henry E. Rohlsen Airport on St. Croix. At 11:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 26, there will be a ceremony held at Gate 10, Cyril E. King Airport on St. Thomas.
President Obama has proclaimed Aug. 21-27, as National Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Week. The president urged everyone to honor the members of the Guard and Reserve.
"Let us honor the members of the Guard and Reserve for their steadfast dedication to us all — both in and out of uniform. And let us acknowledge the families, employers and businesses whose encouragement and flexibility have enabled our military to thrive, and whose support has been vital to the success, stability and security of our nation," said President Barak Obama.
ESGR seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States. It facilitates and promotes a cooperative culture of employer support for National Guard and Reserve service by developing and advocating mutually beneficial initiatives, recognizing outstanding employer support, increasing awareness of applicable laws and policies, resolving potential conflicts between employers and their service members, and acting as the employers’ principal advocate within the Department of Defense.
Paramount to ESGR’s mission is encouraging employment of Guardsmen and Reservists who bring integrity, global perspective and proven leadership to the civilian workforce.
