Milton E. Potter, Division of Personnel (VIDOP) director, has announced testing for the ranks of police officer and correction officer territory-wide.
Qualifications
A candidate must have completed grade 12 or possess an equivalency certificate
Must possess or be able to obtain a Motor Vehicle License
Be a citizen of the United States for at least 20 years
Not have reached his/her 46th birthday
Successfully pass the Civil Service written examination, physical agility test, psychological exam, oral board interview and a comprehensive background test
The sign-up period is Jan. 9-23; testing dates are Feb. 27 – March 3
Note: all interested candidates must sign-up and submit a complete application package at the respective district office by close of business day on Monday, Jan. 23. Candidates who have submitted an application prior are required to notify DOP of any changes in mailing addresses to ensure receipt of confirmed exam notice. Preparation guides for the police officer written examination will be distributed during the week of Jan. 23-27.
The following candidates will be exempted from sitting for the written examination, but they are required to meet all other established criteria for qualifications:
Persons holding a degree in any field of study (associate’s and above) from an accredited institution
All honorably discharged veterans from a branch if the United States Armed Forces.
