Results Given for Last Part of Denmark-Virgin Islands Transfer Marathon Results

Denmark-Virgin Islands Transfer Marathons concluded the St. Croix part of the marathon series last Sunday, March 12, with spectacular runs: a 3:18:52 marathon win by 65-year-old former Olympian Calvin Dallas of St. Thomas and a 4:01:30 win by Jessica Carter of St. Croix. So much occurred in the series that was outstanding including Peter Simonsen’s 300th marathon; repeat marathon one-two finishes and top placing by Torben Jensen and Martin Thomsen; Mary Vargo’s 10K wins on St. Thomas and St. John; repeated wins or top finishes from Karin Eriksen; and much more.

Also praiseworthy is the accomplishment of Kim Smit and Per Hjorth, who possessed the imagination and stamina to organize this unprecedented event on behalf of the Danish visitors and in commemoration of the historic Virgin Islands Centennial.

For complete results, visit the web page of the Virgin Islands Pace, which coordinated of all three events. http://virginislandspace.org/transfermarathon.html

STAR’s next two events are the VI History Stair– Street Walkabout scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on March 25, and the 35th annual Carnival Mile scheduled for 7:30 a.m. on April 29.  Additional details will be provided soon.
