VICC Children’s Activities Sub-Committee Chooses T-Shirt Design Contest Winner       

The V.I. Carnival Committee’s Children’s Activities Sub-Committee has announced that the winner of the Carnival 2017 T-shirt Design Contest is Laanal Al Samman.

Samman is a ten-year-old, 5th grader who attends the Joseph A. Gomez Elementary School.

Participants in the T-Shirt Design Contestant were required to submit artwork that must capture the concept of the V.I. Carnival’s Toddlers’ Derby; include the Carnival theme: “A Centennial Commemoration for Our 65th Carnival Celebration;” have a neat and clean appearance for scanning purposes; and be signed by the student artist.

    VICC would also recognizes Laanaal’s art teacher Linda Freeman.  Congratulations to both student and teacher.

V.I. Carnival 2017 Calypso Elimination Tent and Extempo Competition

The Virgin Islands Carnival Committee (VICC) presents the 2017 Stoli – Budweiser Calypso Elimination Tent and Extempo Competition at 8 p.m., Saturday, April 1, at the Crown Bay Center in Sub Base, St. Thomas.

The Calypsonians competing for a chance to dethrone the reigning Calypso Monarch “Caribbean Queen” are: John Dotty, Broc-Le, Man Chi Chi, Yellow Man, Queen Jackie, Baka, General Val, Mighty Pat, X-Man, Super T, King Kan fo Plenty, De Arc, Sarrow, Nikki Smith, De Shark, The Bloop, King Generic, Iroy and Chaplet.

Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Ticket outlets include Basket, Chelsea Drug Store, Fashion Source, Nora’s Beauty Palace, Sole to Soul and Urban Threadz.

V.I. Carnival 2017 Parade Participants Will Meet March 30

The Virgin Islands Carnival Committee’s Parade Sub-Committee has scheduled a mandatory meeting for all persons wishing to participate in the 2017 Carnival parades.

The Parade Committee meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, March 30, in the V.I. Carnival Committee’s Office on Kronprindsens Gade.
