Personnel Announces Territory-wide Exams for Police Officer, Correction Officer

Milton E. Potter, director of the V.I. Division of Personnel, has announced 2nd quarterly territory-wide exams for rank of police officer or correction officer.

Qualifications:

A candidate must have completed 12th grade or possess an equivalency certificate (GED); a candidate must also be able to obtain a motor vehicle operator’s license. Candidates must be a U.S. citizen at least 20 years of age and not have reached his/her 46th birthday. Candidates must successfully pass a Civil Service Written exam, physical agility test, psychological exam, oral board interview and a comprehensive background check.

Sign-up period: March 27 through April 10

Testing dates: May 15-19

All interested candidates must sign-up and submit a complete application package at their respective district offices by close of business day on Monday, April 10. Candidates who have previously submitted an application are required to notify the Division of Personnel of any changes in mailing addresses to ensure receipt of a confirmed examination notice. Preparation guide for the police officer written exam will be distributed during the week of April 1—21.

The following candidates will be exempt from sitting the written examination, but they are required to meet all other established criteria for qualification:

Persons holding a degree in any field of study (associate’s degree and above) from an accredited institution

All honorably discharged veterans from any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces
