DPNR to Close St Thomas Offices Early on March 29

The Department of Planning and Natural Resources will close all offices in the St. Thomas-St. John District, including the Charles W. Turnbull Regional Library, at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29. The purpose for the early closing is to allow staff to participate in the Our Lord Savior Church Dedication and Fort Christian Reopening Ceremony, according to a press release issued by DPNR.

Commissioner Dawn Henry also extends a cordial invitation to the public to witness the Ceremony at Fort Christian on Wednesday.  Gates will open at 3 p.m.; the ceremony will begin at 4 p.m.

Designated as a National Historic Landmark since 1977, Fort Christian has undergone several renovations as early as 1735.  The latest renovation started over ten years ago. The completed improvements will enable visitors to enjoy one of the U.S. Virgin Islands’ cultural and historical gems.
