Sorority to Hold ‘AKA Day at the Capitol’ at V.I. Legislature on St. Thomas, St. Croix

The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. (AKA) has been engaging all around the world in the “AKA Day at the Capitol,” which is an initiative that allows the sorority members and lawmakers to participate in a dialogue about important platform issues. Sigma Theta Omega Chapter of St. Thomas-St. John and Mu Gamma Omega Chapter of St. Croix in conjunction with the two undergraduate chapters at the University of the Virgin Islands have requested that the 32nd Legislature host “AKA Day at the Capitol.”

Senate President Myron D. Jackson will host this forum and requests the participation of all members. It will be held at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 25, at the Frits W. Lawaetz Conference Room, St. Croix, and the Earle B. Ottley Legislative Hall, St. Thomas, simultaneously.

The areas of discussion will be civil rights, social justice, shelter, financial matters in the territory and any future initiatives that may be forthcoming. Additionally, the sorority is very interested in the areas concerning women and children.
