V.I. Women Knock Over Brazil at AmeriCup Tournament

UVI beats Brazil at AmeriCup 2017

Making some history, the Virgin Islands Women’s National Basketball Team defeated eighth ranked Brazil in overtime, 67-60, at the 2017 AmeriCup Tournament. The games are being played in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Natalie Day’s 3-point field goal pushed the V.I. (2-2) up 64-58 with one minute and 50 seconds left in the extra frame. The overtime period was won, 9-2.

Day was a monster, with 20 points and 13 rebounds; Imani Tate added 18 points, eight rebounds and five assists; Victoria Hamilton rounded out the scorers with 11 points.
