USVI Soccer Association Sets Up Hurricane Relief Effort; Updates Games


The USVI Soccer Association programs came to an abrupt stop due to the passage of Category 5 Hurricane Irma.  The St. Thomas-St. John region experienced the full effects of the hurricane.

Programs – All soccer activities in the St. Thomas-St. John region have been suspended until further notice.  St. Croix programs and activities will continue as follows:

On Saturday, Sept. 16, the season opens with Saturday Morning Grassroots Program at 8 a.m. at Bethlehem Soccer Field. The school’s program will commence on Monday, Sept. 18.  The USVISA St. Croix Men’s League has been postponed until Sunday, Oct. 22.

Relief Drive – A relief drive has been started for the St. Thomas -St. John based members of the USVI Soccer Association; with the assistance of FIFA, CONCACAF and the Caribbean Football Union, the Soccer Association is trying to provide meaningful assistance to the region. It will be forwarding emergency food and supplies to the soccer families and the wider community at a soon to be announced distribution location.

St. Croix-based clubs, members and fans are urged to donate to this relief drive. Please bring supplies and donations to the Soccer Association’s St. Croix office between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 18, at 23-1 Bethlehem.
