Reichhold Center for the Arts unveils its 2014-2015 season with some of the biggest names in the music industry.
Reichhold brings seven of the best performers to the stage, from dance to vocal musicianship to theatrical illusion. The season kicks off with a massive reggae party, featuring two of the biggest names in the genre: Tessanne Chin and Virgin Islands native Pressure. Chin is the 2013 winner of the hit singing competition “The Voice.” Pressure has represented the Virgin Islands in the Caribbean and the U.S. with his unique brand of reggae for over 10 years.
On Nov. 1, Reichhold Center presents an unforgettable performance under the stars with music legend Natalie Cole. Cole will perform her hits “This Will Be,” “Inseparable,” “Our Love” and more.
The second half of the season, will begin Jan. 17 when 10-time Grammy Award-winner Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds performs songs made popular as a writer, producer and singer. Edmond’s hits include “Whip Appeal,” “For the Cool in You” and “Change the World.”
On March 7 and 8, prepare to be mesmerized when fantasy and apparition takes center stage. “Spencer’s: Theatre of Illusion” is a premier illusion performance ranked among the best, including Criss Angel and David Copperfield. During his visit in the V.I., Spencer will also visit various schools and health service centers. Spencer’s brand of illusion has been shown to assist in uplifting children with disabilities and the elderly.
Next up is a showcase of pre-Hispanic, Mexican and Latin culture by Dzul Dance Company. This show-stopping company fuses contemporary dance with aerial arts, contortion and acrobatics to showcase indigenous Mexican culture. The program “Mexico Maya” has been described as “acrobatic wizadry,” “remarkable elasticity,” and “eloquent.”
The season finale features two of the most well-known vocalists in R&B. Jeffrey Osborne and Freddie Jackson each croon their way into the audience’s hearts as they perform classic hits.
A number of the artists on the 2014-2015 roster will deliver arts in education workshops for students, in conjunction with the Virgin Islands Council on the Arts. Tickets for the general public go on sale Sept. 22; season subscribers must confirm their seats by Sept. 19.
