Memorial Day: Brooklyn Woman Seeks Family of Fallen V.I. Soldier

Beach Advisory for May 18-22

The Department of Planning and Natural Resources (DPNR) announces that the Beach Water Quality Monitoring Program, which evaluates weekly water quality at popular swimming beaches throughout the territory, advises the public that these beaches do not meet the water quality standards for swimming or fishing.

Scheduled Memorial Day Activities Will Honor Veterans

On Memorial Day, May 25, the Office of Veterans Affairs, American Legion, Survivor Outreach Services and the VA Vet Center have partnered to commemorate all veterans who have paid the ultimate sacrifice and honor those who are still serving our country faithfully, loyally and with honor.

Deaths — St. John
Inez Penn Smalls Is Dead at 92

Aug. 19, 2006 - Inez Penn Smalls died on Aug. 11, at Sea View Nursing Home. She was 92 years old.
She is survived by sons: Godfrey, Paul and Ralph Smalls; sisters: Henrietta Francis and Iris Joseph; and brothers: Edmund and Carl Penn. She is also survived by granddaughters: Roslyn Hawkins, Jasmin Fredericks and Asta Smalls; grandsons: Kevin, Marvin and Paul Smalls Jr.; 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a viewing from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., on Thursday, Aug. 24, at the Emmaus Moravian Church on St. John. A funeral service will follow at 10 a.m., at the church. Interment will be at Emmaus Moravian Cemetery, St. John.
All funeral arrangements are by Davis Funeral Home, 774-1464.
