VIWMA and Veolia Water Present Check to UVI for Scholarship Fund

The V.I. Waste Management Authority has partnered with Veolia Water North America Caribbean to sponsor a scholarship in honor of the late Sonya D. Nelthropp. VIWMA and Veolia will present a check to the University of the Virgin Islands for the endowed scholarship to the university at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 31, at the authority’s Red Point Wastewater Treatment Facility’s Conference Room, which is located just past the Cyril E. King Airport.
The Sonya D. Nelthropp Scholarship Fund will be used to provide financial support to undergraduate students majoring in process technology on the St. Croix campus, and science and mathematics on the St. Thomas campus. The scholarship requirements will also include a student internship at the VIWMA.
