Human Services Announces Changes in Medicare Part D

The Department of Human Services announces modifications have been made to the 2012 Community Care Prescription Plan Medicare Part D (CCRx) with federal approval by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services.  Medication benefits of all participants in the Virgin Islands, including those in the State Pharmaceutical Assistance Program (SPAP), will be affected.  The CCRx provides prescription benefits to members of SPAP and periodically makes changes to those benefits, including which medications will be covered and the cost.

For 2012 the formulary or list of medications covered by the CCRx plan has been adjusted. Beneficiaries who received notification from CCRx about which medications have been affected by the change are advised to discuss with their doctor the best alternatives to meet their prescription needs.
The formulary is available at the Human Services Senior Citizens Affairs office on St. Thomas at the Knud Hansen Complex in Hospital Ground and on St. Croix at 2011 Golden Rock in Christiansted.
For more informaiton, contact DHS at 774-0930, ext. 4335 or 4223 on St. Thomas, or 773-2323 or 718-9843 on St. Croix.
