Crime Stoppers Needs Your Help

Crime Stoppers asks for continued help in controlling crime. If you know something, say something as the cost of all crime is ultimately paid for by the law abiding citizens of the community via higher prices and higher taxes. Even the smallest bit of information may be just what law enforcement needs to solve these cases.

St. Croix: The Police Department is requesting your assistance in identifying the individuals responsible for a series of burglaries throughout the island. Tell us what you know, including the names of the people buying the stolen property, so police can put a stop to these crimes.

St. John: At noon on Oct. 14, a man discovered that his home at Estate Adrian was broken into and ransacked. The burglar stole a Bose sound system which had an estimated value of $400.

St. Thomas: On June 19 about 7:45 p.m., a woman was walking home in the area of Anna’s Retreat when a masked black male emerged from the bushes, pointed a handgun at her and demanded her handbag. The robber then ran toward Hidden Valley. In addition to the handbag, items stolen include her iPhone 4, an iPhone charger and a gold ring.

The minimum reward for the arrest of an armed robber is $900. For the arrest of a burglar it is $714. For the arrest of someone buying or selling stolen goods the minimum reward is $536.

In all cases the reward is increased by 10 percent of the value of stolen goods recovered. The maximum reward is $2,500.

Only anonymous callers to Crime Stoppers are eligible for these cash rewards, which so far this year, have resulted in 27 arrests, the recovery of seven illegal weapons, and over $22,000 worth of stolen goods.
