Boxers John Jackson and Samuel Rogers will star Saturday in a screening on St. John of the December 2011 World Boxing Council’s Convention fights from Las Vegas. The screening of the 49th annual event will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. at the St. John Legislature building.

It will also be broadcast on the Legislature’s cable channel, according to James Gardner, a member of the 340 Boxing publicity team.

The V.I. boxers will be present at the screening to talk about their winning fights, Gardner said. Jackson defeated Keandre Leatherwood for a Youth WBC super welterweight title and Rogers beat Jamar Freeman for a WBC fecarbox title.

Admission is free but Gardner said donations are welcome. He said donations will help fund an April boxing event on St. Thomas.

According to Gardner, 100 to 150 people attended the screening on St. Thomas.

Gardner urged residents to attend the screening to show their support.
