Police — St. John
Man Wanted in Florida Arrested Entering St. John

Police on St. John arrested a man wanted in Florida on a variety of drug related charges, according to a release from the V.I. Police Department.

Alfred Matthias Jr., who is originally from St. Thomas and now lists his residence as Clearwater, Fla., was detained by police entering the territory from the British Virgin islands/

According to police, the 37-year-old Matthias is wanted in Florida for grand theft, cultivation of marijuana, armed trafficking of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Matthias was arrested Sept. 5. Friday he was arraigned, at which time the court rescinded the 10-day waiting period for extradition, allowing authorities in Florida to move forward immediately to relocate Matthias for court proceedings there.
