The following are the movies playing at the Caribbean Cinemas at Market Square East.

The St. John Film Society presents “Touched” by Laurel Chiten on Tuesday, March 2, at Sputnik. The film is about "people who think they've had contact with aliens, and the Harvard psychiatrist who believes them."

St. John Film Society will present another free film, “Sarayaku: Rivers of Corn,” at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 18, at Market Place, Cruz Bay. There will be a special prix fixe dinner with the filmmaker at 5:30 p.m. at La Plancha del Mar.

"Part of the great power of movies is that they can take us perilously close to the life of someone we might otherwise feel perilously far from," says Owen Gleiberman in EW.com, speaking of Precious, the title character in "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire."

St. John Film Society will screen a film that addresses the hazards of unchecked development "The Unforeseen," winner of the Independent Spirit Award 2008, on Nov. 19. 

Will Hillary Swank's portrayal of Amelia Earhart earn her yet another Oscar nod, or will she drop off the radar much like the movie's namesake did more than 60 years ago?

Unless you've just crawled out from a mine shaft, you know that Michael Jackson died mysteriously June 25. But, all is not lost: we already have a documentary of the rehearsals for what would have been his comeback tour.

Looks like we may have another "Blair Witch Project" with "Paranormal Activity"—if we are to believe the hype, which includes a story about scaring Steven Spielberg, a tiny budget, a "found" tape, and an unknown film maker.

The St. John Film Society will show a “vibrant and hopeful” film about the resourcefulness, determination, and optimism of the Cuban people as they recover from economic crises and make the transition to a more sustainable way of life.  

Movies 4 Life presents a film by Debbie Ford entitled “The Shadow Effect”  on Saturday, Sept. 19, at Pistarckle Theater, which will be followed on Sunday, Sept. 20, by a workshop on the film.
