Junior Achievement of the Virgin Islands (JAVI) is recognizing outstanding volunteer participation for the 2011-2012 school year. Its programs were made possible by volunteers from many V.I. companies throughout the territory.

The2012 ADDY Awards Gala and Dinner, presented by the American Advertising Federation of the U.S. Virgin Islands, will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, at Marriott’s Frenchman’s Reef Hotel, St.Thomas. 

AARP VI will be hosting three public conversations on Medicare and Social Security with seniors during the month of May as part of the Department of Human Services annual celebration of Older Americans Month.

The Caribbean Education Initiative (CEI) will initiate the first Women Wise Conference on May 2-3 on both St. Thomas and St. John, in conjunction with Parent University and the St. Croix Department of Education Office of School Community Relations.

Wagapalooza, the St. John Animal Care Center major fundraiser, will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, at the VINP grounds in Cruz Bay. 

April 8 through April 14 is National Library Week, which is a time to celebrate the contributions of libraries, librarians and library workers in schools, campuses and communities nationwide

Wildlife veterinarian Dr. Heidi Stout will talk about the complex needs of birds after an oil spill at 7 p.m. at the Tuesday, April 17, meeting of the Virgin Islands Audubon Society.
