The Masters in Marine and Environmental Science (MMES) program at the University of the Virgin Islands provides students with the training and skills necessary for planning, conducting and evaluating research in marine and environmental science.

The human resource function is a vital contributor to the success of any organization. Individuals new to the profession or recently promoted professionals can now benefit from a workshop that covers virtually every aspect of human resources management. 

The University of the Virgin Islands – Community Engagement and Lifelong Learning (UVICELL) Center will be offering a workshop for business professionals who wish to improve their writing skills.

UVI has announced the arrival of two new faculty members with expertise in natural resource management. They will be teaching courses in the Division of Science and Mathematics (DSM), and in the Master’s of Marine and Environmental Science (MMES) Program.

Dr. Raul Cano, director of the Environmental Biotechnology Institute at California Polytechnic State University, will discuss his work on environmental and biotechnology related research.

Charlene Matthew, coordinator for the Physician Scientist Training Program (PSTP), advises parents and students across the territory that applicants are still needed for the 2010 program. The deadline to submit applications has been extended to Friday, March 26.

The Miss Charlotte Amalie High School Pageant will be held on Saturday, March 6 in the Ruth E. Thomas Auditorium.

The University of the Virgin Islands invites the public to join in the celebration of the Inauguration of Dr. David Hall as UVI’s fifth president by participating in an array of events throughout the month of March.

The Virgin Islands Regional Science Bowl Competition for high school students in grades 9-12 will take place at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 28, at the Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort & Spa.

Junior high and middle school mathletes from St. Thomas and St. John schools will compete in the chapter competition of the national MATHCOUNTS program.
