Justice
Dec 9, 2011 - 11:12

To clear up an issue in a VI Source article. The Cockayne family did not pay off witnesses with "several thousand Dollars'" as was stated in the VI Source.

They gave a promised reward to two individuals after the defendants were found guilty. The exact amount of the reward was $10,000.00 divided between two witnesses whose testimony never changed from the night of Jamie Cockayne's murder.

Another man fraudulently received a loan from the Cockayne family and then left the island and never paid the family back.

FY 2o11 budget
Oct 7, 2011 - 06:10

The Governor will not sign the VI legislature's budget as presented and it will now go into effect without his signature. He will now have to make the necessary cuts to try to keep the government running based on the budget passed by the 29th legislature. The budget recently passed by the senate has a short fall of millions of dollars. The V.I. Senate approved a total General Fund appropriation level of about $831.3 million. The governor's team revised revenue projections at $830.1 million for 2011 and recommended an $811.8 million budget with a operating budget of about a $1.2 billion.

WAPA is destroying our economy
Oct 6, 2011 - 08:10

How many more businesses and jobs lost will it take our government to realize they really have to do something fast.

http://signon.org/sign/wapa-destroying-our-economy

What is better? Paying $200 to WAPA for the LEAC (and that dollar amount will vary by customer) that goes to just purchasing more fuel, or the customer being able to go out into the community to purchase goods and services that should lead to more businesses opening and job creation with that $200?

Disaster Preparedness and Island Life
Mar 31, 2011 - 12:03

Hello everyone

I am gathering information on what you do when the threat of a severe storm such as a hurricane is approaching. How many people on your Island do you think are prepared?

Are you the reader prepared and if so, why do you consider yourself to be. I have lived on Barbados and Hawaii and now am in Georgia in the USA.

I'm planning to visit St. Croix soon to expand my company. I would like to meet some business owners in the mean time.

Sis Frank's deep contributions to our St. John Community...
Dec 23, 2010 - 04:12

I attended the amazingly emotionally moving and deep touching Memorial "Celebration of Life" for our Sis Frank last Saturday.
One thing was very clear....Sis Frank and the loving energy in action that followed her everywhere helped coin the nickname 'Love City" for St. John.
As I looked around the school...at the diversity of people present...the heart-warming testimonies of either music or words "from the heart" it was obvious that this amazing woman did something awesome and legendary to the community that we all call home.

Housing Finance Authority Buy's Five Acre in Coral Bay
Dec 15, 2010 - 11:12

After reading the article titled, "Housing Finance Authority Buy's Five Acres in Coral Bay", it was inevitable that I posted a response. It is very interesting that Mr. Graham would indicate that the reason why only 2 of the 24 townhouses were sold in Calabash Boom is because the location is a far distance from Cruz Bay...and this is even more a hindrance to sales if you work on St. Thomas.

Authorship rules need reform today.
Nov 13, 2010 - 02:11

While the public awaits the formation of the 29th legislature, shouldn't a freeze be placed on any authorship of a bill(s) by a senator to the legal councils office awaiting a bill number before being sworn in?
