KATHARINE STREIBICH, EDUCATOR, DEAD AT 45

Katharine Harms Streibich, 45, died on Sunday, Feb. 28, at her home in St. Thomas, after a long struggle with cancer. The longtime head of the English department at Antilles School, she had served with distinction in that post since 1989.
Streibich, a 24-year resident of St. Thomas, began teaching in 1975 at Sts. Peter and Paul School. She taught there until 1978, and returned to Sts. Peter and Paul after completing graduate studies.
She joined the English faculty of Antilles School in 1985.
She is survived by her husband, Bruce W. Streibich, and two children, Elizabeth and John. Other survivors include her mother, Margaret Harms of Quechee, Vt., a sister, Margaret Hartoog of Scottsdale, Ariz., and two brothers, James, also of Quechee, and Richard, of Eugene, Ore.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 11, at the St. Thomas Reformed Church. The time will be announced at a later date.
