WAPA DOWN AND OUT

At 11 a.m. Monday the entire island was without power. By 12:15 p.m. Patricia Blake-Simmonds, spokesperson for the Water and Power Authority, reported all but feeders six and seven had been restored.
Simmonds said the problem was with the transformer on unit 13. She denied that fire was the cause.
"When a transformer blows there is often a loud noise and a flash that might make it seem like a fire. But there was no fire," she said.
Simmonds reported "they are currently trying to start unit 11 and should have feeders six and seven up by 3 p.m."
The outage Monday came on the heels of several outages last week, which reportedly were due to a combination of scheduled repairs and problems with three generating units at the Krum Bay power plant.
