ST. THOMIAN JAZZ ARTISTS TO PERFORM

Adding spice and Jazz to this week's Sinbad soul music events are St. Thomians, saxophonist Ron Blake, drummer Dion Parsons and double bass player Ruben Rogers who will be joined by trumpeter Rashaan Ross and pianist Roan Creque. The quartet will swing into action at 9 a.m in the courtyard at Images In Paradise located on the waterfront next to the old Vitelco business office in Kronprindsens Market.
Performances will continue Thursday, Friday and Saturday starting whenever the Sinbad festivities start to wind down. They could play until 4 a.m.on those nights.
Blake is a working and recording member of Roy Haynes and Art Farmer's bands, Parsons a first call drummer in the Big Apple and Ross, a highly regarded junior at Boston's Berklee School of music. Creque is an established local musician.
Blake and Parsons now make New York City their home. Rogers who left
Nicolas Peyton's Grammy winning band earlier this year has been traveling extensively with Joshua Redmond's quintet.
Blake acting as spokesperson for the group announced that "the band
will be playing acoustic straight-ahead Jazz," as an adjunct to Sinbad's
Soul music.
