Hotelkeepers and innkeepers are reminded that the hotel room tax is due on the 30th day following the month concerned. However, the April hotel room tax return will be due on June 1, according to Claudette Farrington, acting director of the V.I. Bureau of Internal Revenue.
In light of the Sinbad Soul Music Festival, taxpayers that anyone renting or leasing an apartment, condo or residence for a day, week month or for any period of less than 90 days must collect the 8% hotel room tax from their guests.
Questions regarding the tax should be directed to the office of Chief Counsel at 714-9312.
