RATS CHEWING SENDS SEWAGE SPILLING

The Barren Spot wastewater pumping station was shut down Thursday after rats got into pump motors and chewed on wires, causing the motors to malfunction and sewage to spill into the nearby lagoon.
Commissioner Harold Thompson of the Department of Public Works said the motors must be removed. Repairs are expected to take two weeks, and he advised the public to avoid the area until further notice.
