C’STED MURDER VICTIM WAS SHOT

St. Croix are trying to piece together the incident which led to the third murder in the territory Friday afternoon near Hill Street in downtown Chrstiansted.
In the shooting incident, Kenville Mills, believed to be in his late teens or early 20's, was shot to death following a verbal altercation.
St. Croix Deputy Police Chief Novelle Francis said at the scene that initial information to police suggested that Mills was shot at Hill Street and collapsed in front of a bar near Times Square about a block away.
"Mills died of an apparent gunshot wound to the left side of the chest. It was originally thought that the victim was stabbed," Francis said, noting that several persons reported hearing gunfire in the downtown area around 4 p.m.
A large crowd gathered as police cordoned off the outer perimeter of the location where Mills collapsed and died. Francis appealed to the community to come forward with information that will lead to the identity of the suspect in the case. Anyone with information about the suspect should call 778-2211. Francis said homicide detectives are interviewing potential witnesses to the shooting.
Mills' death is the second murder on St. Croix this year and the third homicide in the territory.
