VOLUNTEER WEEK IS FOR THANKS

Dear Source,
Often all we see reported are the divisions that plague our territory. We read examples of greed and self-aggrandizement. What is often overlooked is how many of our citizens quietly go about doing good for others, how many regularly place service above self. These are the people whom UVI encourages members of our community to remember and thank during National Volunteer Week, April 22 -28.
As we found out in our volunteer recognition ceremony last year, even a simple thank you note, a simple acknowledge means so much to those who volunteer.
The University of the Virgin Islands family would like to remind our community that the week of April 22-28 will commemorate the 25th year of celebrating National Volunteer Week. The theme for National Volunteer Week 2001, which is "Change the World – VOLUNTEER!", is particularly appropriate as we enter a new century with renewed hope for what we can achieve together through volunteering.
So, please look around you and thank those have chosen to be "a thorn in the side of indifference".
Thank you.
