SEABORNE OFFERING SPECIAL $59.50 FARES FOR APRIL

April 12, 2001 – In a clear response to the much-publicized trial ferry service between St. Thomas and St. Croix, Seaborne Seaplanes is running a fare special for the rest of April — a round-trip fare between islands of $59.50, with just a few restrictions.
"Obviously, with the ferry here, there's some increased but temporary competition," Maurice Kurg, president and CEO of Seaborne, said. "I think it's artificial," he added, noting that the high-speed ferry is only testing the market for a month.
Seaborne's reduced fare is good anytime on Saturdays, until 3 p.m. on Sundays, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays. The return trip can be on the same day or on another, Kurg said.
Passengers must purchase tickets in order to reserve space. That means if you make reservations over the telephone, you need to use a charge card.
The seaplanes travel downtown to downtown between Christiansted and the Charlotte Amalie Waterfront.
