WATKINS' DEATH DUE TO DROWNING

April 23, 2001 – A man whose body was found Friday floating face down in the waters off Red Hook died of drowning.
Medical Examiner Dr. Francisco Landron said Tuesday that foul play was not suspected in the death of 24-year-old Lloyd "Beau" Watkins II.
"An autopsy conducted on Monday was consistent with drowning," Landron said.
Watkins' partially decomposed body was pulled from Vessup Bay around 6:45 a.m. April 20, two days after he was last seen. An employee on the motor vessel Kitty Hawk, Watkins had been reported missing the day before he was found.
Police said Watkins had last been seen on the sailboat Columbine, which was moored near the Vessup Bay outer harbor.
