A memorial service for Marianne Bischoff-Hansen of St. Thomas will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, at Frederick Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Bischoff-Hansen, 33, of Estate Santa Maria, was the owner of the Silver World jewelry store in International Plaza in Charlotte Amalie and a second shop on Company Street in Christiansted. She died May 5 in a fall from a third-floor balcony of the King Christian Hotel in Christiansted. She had been on St. Croix in connection with her shop there staying open late for the "Jump-Up" held in connection with the Half Iron Man Triathlon.
In lieu of flowers, Armour Enterprises, landlord for international Plaza, is accepting donations to purchase a U.S. Savings Bond for Bischoff-Hansen's 4-year-old son, Kristian Aaron Bischoff Tavernier. Little People's Learning Center, which Kristian attends, will also purchase a savings bond instead of flowers.
Bischoff-Hansen is survived by her son, Kristian; her son’s father, Christopher Tavernier; and family members who traveled to the territory from Denmark upon learning of her death — her mother, Stemce Frederiksen; father, Frank Bischoff-Hansen; sister, Jeanette Hansen; and cousin, Michael Frederickson. She also leaves behind her employees Ginger, Anne, Felicia, Elba, Conney and Brent; and good friends Cheryl, Erica, Claudette, Richard, Alice, Matthew and numerous others.
A private family service was conducted at the Thomas Hyll Memorial Chapel on St. Croix Friday, May 11, by Pastor Lester White of Lord God of Sabaoth Lutheran Church. Funeral services in Denmark are planned.
