LOCAL MANUFACTURERS TO SPEAK AND ‘PASS IT ON'

May 14, 2001–The Virgin Islands Cultural Heritage Institute will sponsor a presentation by five local manufacturers entitled, "Packaging Culture," at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 24, at the institute, located at 5-6 Kongens Gade, also known as Education Street, across from the White House.
Jacquel Dawson of Bush Teas of the Virgin Islands, Gail Garrison of Island Fragrances, Charles King of King's Caribbean Coffee, Cheryl Miller of Taste of Paradise, and Larry Sewer of Jewel of the Isles, will speak about manufacturing products in the Virgin Islands and how to compete in local and international markets.
The program is especially relevant to anyone seeking to take their ideas and products into organized markets. "Packaging Culture" is a Pass it On Program, a Virgin Islands Heritage preservation project that provides a forum where artisans can demonstrate their art and craft to the community in an effort to build interest and keep culture alive.
Pass it On is funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and supported by the Virgin Islands Humanities Council.
