STSA GOLF TOURNAMENT SUNDAY

May 18, 2001 — A cruise to Alaska or a golf weekend in Santo Domingo are among the thousands of dollars in prizes to be given away Sunday at the first annual 2001 Caribbean Auto Mart St. Thomas Swimming Association Golf Tournament starting at 9 a.m. Sunday at Mahogany Run golf course.
There is a reduced entry fee of $70 this year because part of the course cannot be used owing to injury the greens suffered earlier this year.
The event will help raise funds for the STSA Community Aquatic Center in Estate Nazareth, a project that STSA under the direction of Kathy Huttel, executive director, has been working on for 13 years. The nonprofit association has provided swimming classes, competitive swimming and aquatic certification to more than 9,000 St. Thomas and St. John residents, mostly youngsters.
The tournament will be a modified scramble format. The entry fee will include golf, a golf shirt, "goodie bag" and a buffet at the awards ceremony. Prizes will be given for the five top teams, longest drive and closest-to-pin for men and women.
Raffle tickets will be available at $2 per chance.
