DOWE BACKS KIDS SUMMER PROGRAM

May 23, 2001 – Sen. Carlton Dowe is sponsoring a Summer Enrichment Program for students who are in or who have completed fourth or fifth grade.
The program will run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays for six weeks, from June 25 to Aug. 3.
Morning sessions will emphasize academics, including English, Spanish, math and science. Afternoons will be devoted to field trips, computer labs, arts and crafts and guest speakers. A free lunch and snack will be provided as part of the Education Department's division of special nutrition program.
Cost is $60 per student. For an extra charge, parents may arrange for care after 3 p.m. The program is partially funded by the Virgin Islands Council on the Arts.
