SERVICE FOR JEAN BROWN HENDRICKS IS AUG. 11

Aug. 3, 2001 – A memorial service for Jean Jorgensen Brown Hendricks, longtime owner of Caribbean Travel Agency on St. Thomas, will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Estate St. Peter Mountain Greathouse.
She died July 17 at her home in Nokomis, Fla., from complications due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Her four daughters, Derryle Berger of Nokomis, Fla.; Brooks Brown of St. Thomas; Tracy Brown of Delray Beach, Fla.; and Courtney Gabrielson of St. Thomas, all will be on island for the memorial gathering.
Brown Hendricks moved to St. Thomas with her daughters in 1962 to take over the travel agency, which has grown since then from two employees to 43. In 1965, she married Jens G. Hendricks, an assistant V.I. police commissioner. He preceded her in death, in 1992. She relocated to Florida in 1994 for medical reasons but continued to be involved in the travel agency as an owner and adviser.
In lieu of flowers, donations be made in Brown Hendricks' name to the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands, PO Box 11790, St. Thomas VI 00801.
Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 6 at West Point in New York.
