ART GALLERY OFFERS TO GET YOU THERE FOR FREE

Nov. 21, 2001 – An offer by The Art Gallery at the Grand Hotel to transport St. John residents from Cruz Bay to the Charlotte Amalie waterfront and back on Friday evenings may be one of the best deals around.
The free ferry leaves The Creek at 7 p.m., arriving on the St. Thomas waterfront in time to give art appreciators a couple of hours to peruse the exhibits at The Art Gallery and enjoy the weekly wine reception the gallery hosts on the second-floor terrace of the Grand Galleria (formerly the Grand Hotel). The gallery is open until 10 p.m. on Fridays.
The ferry leaves the Charlotte Amalie waterfront at the regular Cruz Bay departure point at 10 p.m. for the return trip to St. John.
Art Gallery owner Michael Paiewonsky said reception goers in Cruz Bay should look for a white Transportation Services ferry for the trip to St. Thomas. He expects the weekly receptions to continue into next March.
Paiewonsky said the exhibits at his gallery will change regularly as artists bring in new pieces. The currently group show features works by St. John artists Tonia Zambrano, Andrea Radcliff, Carol Beckowitz, Aimee Trayser, Jay Goldman, Vicki Brown, Kimberly Boulon, Deborah St. Clair and Andrew Radcliff, along with other artists from St. Thomas and St. Croix.
Paiewonsky said MAPes MONDe, which he also owns, and Beni Iguana's Sushi Bar in the courtyard of the Grand Galleria complex are sponsoring the Friday ferry. The sushi bar also is open until 10 on Friday nights.
