HOW ABOUT GETTING GAS FROM GEORGIA?

Dear Source,
Here's an idea: let's all get together and order up a tanker of gasoline from Georgia. We could pay full retail from some corner gas station at $0.79 a gallon as of Nov. 21, 2001, and be paying well over $1 a gallon less than we have to pay here in the beautiful Virgin Islands.
Is there some kind of protectionist legislative policy or something that prohibits competition here? Why do we have the largest refinery in the Western Hemisphere, yet gasoline prices more than double anywhere else in the United States?
I guess if the taxpayer is paying for your personal gasoline, it doesn't necessarily amount to a hot-button issue … Please, 'splane it to me.
