NATIONAL GUARD DAUGHTER WINS SCHOLARSHIP

Nov. 30, 2001 – Qiahna G. Williams, daughter of Karen Williams of St. Croix, is the winner of a scholarship awarded annually through the Virgin Islands National Guard Enlisted Association and USAA, the Insurance and Financial Services Company.
Qiahna Williams is currently a senior at the University of Tampa, where she majors in biology and chemistry. She is a graduate of St. Croix Educational Complex
Staff Sergeant Karen Williams is a member of the V.I. National Guard Enlisted Association and a member of the 113th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment of the V.I. National Guard.
The scholarship of $1,000 is awarded annually to a V.I. National Guard Enlisted Association member; spouse, dependent unmarried son or daughter of a member; or spouse, dependent unmarried son or daughter of a deceased member who was in good standing at time of death.
USAA, founded in 1922, funds the scholarship in recognition of the significant contributions made by the National Guard.
