GO BACK TO BASICS, STOP THE NONSENSE

Dear Source,

As a product of the V.I. public school system, I am totally miffed at the recent loss of accreditation and the state of education in the V.I. As a supporter of Dr. [Ruby] Simmonds from her Legislature days, I am most disappointed and must ask that she step aside and let someone with the will and stamina take a stab at it.(There is no doubt that she is extremely capable.)
We must go back to the basics and forget all this new math and other voodoo education that are currently the trend or norm.
On crime: we need to stop the nonsense and crack down hard. The police must be paid and trained, politics must be removed. A good starting point is the "broken mirror" theory. If we start with the little stuff, it will escalate into the big stuff. It worked in New York City, it has to work here. If it doesn't, we can all cancel Christmas.
