Jan. 28, 2002 – The annual cocktail party of the Friends of the Elaine I. Sprauve Library is set for Feb. 16 at the Battery, and the community is invited. The event runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 per person and $50 per couple.
"It's a great chance to get a look at the Battery," Emily Cena, a member of the organizing committee, said. While people normally see the business offices in the public area at ground level, she explained, the Friends party will be on the second-floor in the living room. The Battery, which dates from 1825, houses the office of the St. John Administrator.
The event will feature appetizers and desserts donated by St. John restaurants along with an open bar. Ticket holders will be eligible for door prizes donated by St. John merchants.
Tickets are available at the library and from Friends members. They also will be sold that night at the door. Cena said that last year's cocktail party raised $3,500 that went for library improvements.
