Feb. 3, 2002 – St. John residents are invited to meet with Sen. Carlton Dowe at the Legislature Building in Cruz Bay on Wednesday to discuss "issues of concern to them," according to a release from the Legislature issued Friday.
The senator said he would make himself available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to meet with residents "who may find it burdensome to come to St. Thomas to meet with their representatives." No appointments are necessary, he said.
Dowe, a freshman senator elected to the 24th Legislature in the St. Thomas-St. John district, pledged to "continue to make myself available on the island of St. John to address the needs of my constituents."
St. John has traditionally considered the single at-large senator as its de facto representative, and that senator is required to be a St. John resident. However, the island is part of the St. Thomas-St. John district, which elects seven other senators to the Legislature.
