May 24, 2002 – THE FULL MOON on May 26 involves an eclipse of the Moon. This will not be a dramatic eclipse, as the Sun will cast only a partial shadow of the Earth across the Moon. Called a penumbral eclipse, still its energy is powerful, especially this season as the eclipses tap into powerful planetary patterns.
ECLIPSE SEASON
Eclipse season is upon us. Twice a year, at new and full moons, the Sun and Moon align to produce eclipses. The timing changes through the signs of the zodiac according to a 19-year cycle. The mysterious power of an eclipse continues to be compelling, even in these high-tech, electrically lightened times. An assortment of demons has been considered responsible for these phenomena. The Chinese and the Armenians imagined a dragon eating the Sun or Moon.
Eclipses align with the Moon's nodes, often called the Dragon Head and Tail. The nodes are points on both sides of the sky where the path of the Moon intersects the path of the Sun. Always in polarity, Islamic images of the nodes show a two-headed creature. The nodes are indicators of karma and evolutionary direction, the intertwining of past and present.
The SUN in GEMINI and MOON in SAGITTARIUS on this Full Moon highlight the polarity of these two signs and ask interesting questions, such as: What is Truth? Are your beliefs limiting the potentials in your life? How do you think about what is going on? Are you aware of how your thoughts define your reality and experience? What vision of the future do we want to share and live out?
SATURN and PLUTO join up with this Full Moon, as they exactly oppose for the third and final time on May 25, the day before the eclipse. Saturn is on the Dragon Head and Pluto on the Dragon Tail. The Moon tunes into this potent planetary dynamic all day Sunday. The opposition has been active since last August and was the astrological centerpoint of 9-11. Now in the news we are being told to expect other terrorist attacks. Pluto is the planet associated with terrorists, foreign powers, our deepest fears and deepest desires. Pluto, the god/dess of death and rebirth, shows us where we claim our power or give it away. What kind of leadership inspires fear and terror in its people? What are the motivations behind this? Who is benefiting? With Pluto in Sagittarius, we need to go beneath the surface and ask deep questions. We are compelled to tap into our own inner wells of inspiration, our intuitive capacity to transform and recreate. How does your life need to change to reflect your innate creative potentials? How can you more fully live your personal truth, manifest your well-being? How can you find peace and happiness in the face of this destructive chaos?
SATURN in GEMINI has effective suggestions: Change the channel. Change your mind. Rather than let your thoughts dwell in worry and fear, on the bad news, turn your mental dial to positive thoughts. Use your power of imagination to think up new options, new ideas. The energy is changing in powerful ways that can match our wildest dreams. Dare to dream them. Tune into different news streams – the courageous and heartfelt actions individuals are taking to create beauty and renewal out of such a potent time of chaos. Transformational potential is accelerated at such times. We can only make a difference in our own lives, in our own hearts and minds. If enough people take this rare opportunity – -and we are! – amazing things can happen. Watch for the GOOD NEWS – make your own. Gratitude for the small wonders and pleasures of life, moment by moment, make the biggest difference.
Get out of the box, as they say. Turn off the box. Do you feel like being a responsible citizen, which means being informed and keeping up with the news? Be aware of whose news you are listening to. Tune into the cosmic news the knowing in your heart.
The more you think about something, the more reality you give it. If you cast those thoughts off (easier said than done, but practice and prayer work), you disconnect from that energy field and it disintegrates. We are RECREATING ENERGY FIELDS. This is science. The mind is a powerful and effective tool when we use it well. Worry and fear are not a good use of energy. Don't let the dragon eat you – you are the dragon. Inspiration, delight, appreciation are powerful waves in the Sea of Love. Do you believe in the consciousness revolution? This is it! Be part of it!
During the NEXT NEW MOON on June 10, an eclipse of the Sun continues to amplify this energy. This Full Moon eclipse highlights the demons and dragons, so find your dragon and ride it. Focus your mind thoughts of love rather than fear, and you'll be riding the most powerful Dragon in the universe.
NOTE: Watch for the lovely conjunction of Jupiter and Venus, the two brightest diamonds in the sky right after sunset the first week of June. It will make your heart sing.
