GOLF TOURNEY BENEFITS HUMANE SOCIETY

June 16, 2002 – One of the Humane Society's largest fund raisers – the annual Red, White and Blue Golf Tournament – is coming up Sunday, June 23.
Tee off is promptly at 9 a.m., following an 8 a.m. continental breakfast, according to Humane Society president Joe Aubain.. The proceeds from the event are used to fund the operation of the Animal Shelter in Estate Nadir.
"In addition to all of the fun on the course, players will be treated to a buffet luncheon prepared by Banana Tree Grill; trophies will be awarded to the top three teams as well as to the men’s and women longest drive,"Aubain said. The event will also feature a raffle with over 35 prizes.
Anyone interested in participating in the is asked to call the animal shelter at 775-0599 or sign up at the Mahogany Run Pro Shop. The entry fee is $100.00 per player.
The Humane Society of St. Thomas was established in 1957. Its primary purpose is to serve and protect the animals in the community by promoting and providing humane care for them, to maintain an animal shelter for the temporary housing, care and alleviation of suffering of unwanted animals, to provide educational programs and advocate for the elimination of cruelty to animals.
The event is being partially underwritten by a grant from the Prosser/ICC Foundation.
