June 27, 2002 – The University of the Virgin Islands Bulletin Board issued today includes these announcements:
V.I. National Monuments Topic of UVI Anniversary Lecture
UVI's MacLean Marine Science Center, on the St. Thomas Campus, will host a lecture titled "Virgin Islands National Monuments: Hope for the Future," at 10 a.m. Friday, June 28. The speaker will be Rafe Boulon, chief of Resource Management at the V.I. National Park on St. John. Boulon will speak on the significance of the new Virgin Islands Coral Reef National Monuments to the people and the future of the Virgin Islands. The lecture is free and open to the public. It is part of the events marking UVI's 40th anniversary and the MacLean Marine Science Center's 10th anniversary. For information call 693-1380.
Fundraising Barbecue Set on St. Croix Campus
The St. Croix campus Christmas Party Committee will hold a fund-raising barbecue for faculty, staff, students and the community on the campus lawn, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 28. Proceeds will help cover the cost of planning and conducting the annual faculty and staff Christmas party. Tickets are $8 and are available from committee members. For details call extension 4158.
"For Better, For Worse" Continues Friday
This weekend is your final chance to attend David Edgecombe's comedy "For Better, For Worse." The play's run concludes with presentations Friday through Monday, June 28 through July 1. Showtime is 8 p.m. in the UVI Little Theatre. Tickets are $15, and are available on campus at the Reichhold Box Office (693-1559) and the UVI Bookstore, on St. Thomas at Krystal Gifts Galore, Modern Music and Parrot Fish, and on St. John at Connections.
