WEEKEND ATTRACTIONS ON UVI ST. THOMAS CAMPUS

July 5, 2002 – The University of the Virgin Islands Bulletin Board, which is usually posted in the Source Schools section, has several weekend attractions for the public. More detailed stories are elsewhere in this section and in Sports.
CBC Finals Set Friday and Saturday at Sports and Fitness Center
UVI's Sports and Fitness Center is hosting semifinal- and final-round action July 5 and 6 of the Verne R. Callwood Sr. Caribbean Basketball Confederation's 16th annual Senior Championships. Nine men's teams and five women's squads from throughout the Caribbean are involved.
Men's consolation games began Friday morning, with semifinal games for the women in the afternoon. Men's semifinal action was into the evening Friday. The medal games in both men's and women's divisions are slated for Saturday. Bronze medal games are set for the women at 1 p.m. and the men at 3 p.m. The women's gold medal game begins at 5 p.m. and the men's gold medal game follows at 7 p.m.
The top three teams in each division will qualify to compete in the 2003 Central American and Caribbean basketball competition.
"For Better, For Worse" Continues For Three Weekend Evenings
Due to popular demand, performances of "For Better, For Worse," have been extended for one additional weekend. The comedy by David Edgecombe continues Friday through Sunday, July 7. It is being presented in the UVI Little Theatre, on the St. Thomas Campus. Showtime is 8 p.m.
Tickets are $15, and are on sale on-campus at the UVI Bookstore and the Reichhold Box Office, on St. Thomas at Krystal Gifts Galore in Tutu Park Mall, all Modern Music locations, and Parrot Fish on Backstreet, and on St. John at Connections. For details call 693-1559.

UVI Performing Arts Festival Moves to the Reichhold Center
UVI's Reichhold Center for the Arts presents a unique evening of entertainment on Saturday, July 6, as part of the second USVI Performing Arts Festival. Renowned poet Sonia Sanchez will open the program with readings from her most recent books. Following that, actors Danny Glover and Felix Justice will present "An Evening with Martin Luther King and Langston Hughes," a dramatization of a dialogue between the civil rights leader and the poet. Show time is 8 p.m. Tickets cost $35, $25 and $15, and are available from the Reichhold Box Office and other outlets. For details call 693-1559.
