DEMAND FOR DIGITAL CABLE BOXES EXCEEDS SUPPLY

July 23, 2002 – Innovative Cable TV has run out of digital cable boxes on St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix, general manager Adrian LaBennett in a press release issued Tuesday.
Innovative spokesman Tom Dunn said the supplies were exhausted Monday. While the company had been filling orders as they came in, Dunn said, there is now a five-day delay.
LaBennett said the shortage occurred because the demand exceeded the number of digital boxes the supplier, Motorola, has had scheduled for delivery since Innovative launched its digital service recently.
Dunn said about half of the company's customers have signed on for digital service. He declined to give specific figures.
