ALPHONSE LOUIS POWELL DIED IN PUERTO RICO

Alphonse Louis Powell, retired police captain, retired boat captain, of St. John, died on July 24, in Puerto Rico. Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 3, at Bethany Moravian Church, St. John. Viewing will begin at 9 a.m. with the service at 10 a.m. Interment will be in the Cruz Bay Cemetery.
He is survived by his sons Vernel, Ray, Alphonse Jr., and Johnny Powell; daughters Julia Powell Gregoire and Vera Powell Payne; brothers Randolph, Aubrey and Rudolph Thomas, Albert Alfredo and Roy Smith, Winston, Frank II, Warren and Franklin Powell; sisters Andromeada Powell, Ismay January and Anna Penn; 13 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; many other friends and relatives too numerous to mention.
