FOUR ST. CROIX STUDENTS GET JOYNER COMPUTERS

Aug. 19, 2002 – Eight University of the Virgin Islands students are receiving the promised computers that were awarded through the Tom Joyner Foundation fund-raising event in May.
Three of the four St. Croix students received their computers Saturday afternoon during the "Meet and Greet" ice cream social for the UVI community. UVI president Dr. LaVerne Ragster presented a laptop to Shermaine Pogson, and desktop computers to Demelza Lawrence and Maryjane Katowa. Deanna Cornelius will receive a laptop later, as she also is off-island.
The St. Thomas students received their computers Friday afternoon.
The laptop computers and carrying cases were donated to the Joyner Foundation by Equal/ Merisant Company, and the desktops were donated by Hewlett Packard.
