JOYNER COMPUTERS PRESENTED TO UVI STUDENTS

Aug. 19, 2002 – Eight University of the Virgin Islands students are receiving the promised computers that were awarded through the Tom Joyner Foundation fund-raising event in May.
UVI President LaVerne Ragster presented three St. Thomas campus scholarship recipients with computers on Friday. Carolyn Biscoe and Joseph Hodge received laptops, while Ranan Mustafa received a desktop computer. Johny Castor, who is off-island, will receive his laptop later.
St. Croix students received their computers Saturday afternoon during the "Meet and Greet" ice cream social for the UVI community. Dr. Ragster presented a laptop to Shermaine Pogson, and desktop computers to Demelza Lawrence and Maryjane Katowa. Deanna Cornelius will receive a laptop later, as she also is off-island.
The laptop computers and carrying cases were donated to the Joyner Foundation by Equal/ Merisant Company, and the desktops were donated by Hewlett Packard.
