PERFORMING ARTS INSTITUTE NAMES DIRECTORS

Aug. 20, 2002 – The V.I. Institute of Performing Arts (VIIPA) is a nonprofit community-based organization founded in 1992. Its goal is to provide St. Thomas' youth with professional training and a curriculum that exposes children to the beauty and discipline of the performing arts.
A new, all-volunteer board of directors, made up entirely of community members, governs VIIPA. The board is responsible for setting policy, raising funds, overseeing management and assuring the mission and goals of VIIPA are fulfilled, said a release. In celebrating 10 years of dedicated service to the children of the Virgin Islands VIIPA lists its new board members:
Paula Norkatis, president
Wayne Anderson, vice president
Yvonne Richardson, treasurer
Chandra Kean, secretary
Sadie Taylor, public relations
Ingrid Ayala-Thomas, director
These volunteers, along with the instructors, students, and parents affiliated with the institute, are committed to the success and growth of VIIPA, the release said.
