19-YEAR-OLD FOUND FATALLY SHOT ON PORCH

Sept. 4, 2002 – Police responding to a call Wednesday morning found the body of a man described as a 19-year-old Hispanic in the Harvey housing community.
Deputy Police Chief Angel Santos said later in the day that police were called to the public housing project at 6:08 a.m. and found the man's body on the porch of one of the buildings. The victim had been shot once in the head, Santos said.
The man's identity has not been released. Santos could not confirm reports that the victim was a suspect in another crime.
Police asked that anyone with information concerning the case call investigators at 778-4950 or the 911 emergency number.
The victim is the 12th homicide on St. Croix and the 29th in the territory this year. At this time a year ago, there had been a total of 16 killings in the territory, 9 of them on St. Croix.
